Three offshore wind turbines (OWTs) of the CGN Nanpeng Island project in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province have been connected to the power grid on November 1, 2019, making it the first batch to be connected in the Yangjiang sea zone.
The CGN Nanpeng project is 20km off the coast, with a total capacity of 400MW (73 x 5.5MW). Hu Suixing, GM of CGN Yangjiang Offshore Wind Power Generation Company, mentioned that the whole project would be commissioned by the end of 2020 with AEP estimated at 1,000GWh. The CGN Nanpeng project was approved by the Guangdong DRC in September 2017. Nearly 30GW of offshore wind projects were approved by the Guangdong DRC within the single year of 2018, of which approximately 11GW were in Yangjiang City. (Baijiahao)
