Xinjiang plans to subsidize power generation energy storage to enhance renewable energy consumption

Recently, the government of Xinjiang released the “Administrative Measures of Power Generation Energy Storage”, encouraging power plants, power brokers, electricity consumers, and independent power ancillary service providers to invest in power storage facilities.

Energy storage systems with a minimum capacity of 10MW/20MWh, will receive a subsidy of 0.55 CNY/KWh from the local government in return for power charging services under the AGC instruction of the grid dispatching system to support peak regulation needs.

Besides storing energy to curb wind and solar curtailment, energy storage facilities can also participate in the ancillary service market by providing peak regulation services when needed by the grid. (BJX)
