The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has just released a report entitled “National Marine Energy 2019 Annual Progress Report”.
According to the report, by the end of 2018 China's ocean power installed capacity reached 7.4MW, of which tidal power made up 4.35MW, ocean current made up 2.86MW, and wave power only 0.2MW.
The report also mentioned that the department would work to oversee the accelerated construction of marine energy demonstration bases and test sites, and promote the introduction of a set of marine energy policies such as on-grid tariffs for ocean power generation, subsidies for marine engineering renovation, and sea trial insurance funds. This then presents the question, if in the future tidal power generation receives a special FIT, can marine energy projects which combine both offshore wind and tidal energy receive both FITs?
