On November 3, the plenary session of the central committee of the Communist Party of China approved a guiding document to set the country's pace of development for the next five years and to create a vision for 2035.
In the 14th Five-Year-Plan (14FYP)(2021-2025), the new energy industry will continue to be listed as a strategic emerging industry. The document also emphasizes that energy security is one of the essential priorities for the country. It is underlined that renewable energy intake and storage capacity will be further enhanced (提升新能源消纳和存储能力), and power production and transmission layout will be optimized. In parallel, the document has specified the importance of green buildings and the support for green finance development.
The projected scenario sets out the following for China in 2035:
- green production and green lifestyle will be widely established;
- carbon emission will reach a peak followed by a steady decline;
- ecological environment will be fundamentally improved;
- allocation of energy resources will become more rational and efficiency of utilization will be greatly improved, while total emissions of important pollutants will be continuously reduced.
