According to the 2019 Energy Development Report, Henan has shut down 1,680MW of thermal plants and added 3,000MW of renewable energy installed capacity in the single year.
The report also estimates that the renewable energy consumption rate for last year was 8.5% of total energy consumption. Also noteworthy from the report was that Henan’s solar poverty alleviation efforts led to an achievement of 2,585MW installed capacity. The positive figures can be seen as encouragement for the continued replacement of thermal power generation with renewable energy in 2020. (Henan GOV)
