Largely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, China’s newly added wind installed capacity amounted to only 6.32GW for the first half of the year.

With this lag in addition to NDRC requirements that wind projects which would like to apply for FIT must connect to the grid before the end of 2021, it is very likely that China’s wind projects will enter a period of rush installations during the next 1.5 years. Meanwhile, by the end of July, China’s hydro installed capacity reached 316GW, thermal installed capacity reached 1,200GW and nuclear installed capacity reached 49GW. (NEA)
