CEC predicts non-fossil energy power installed capacity reaches 1,120GW in 2021

The 2020-2021 National Electricity Supply and Demand Analysis and Forecast Report has been released by the CEC (China Electricity Council).

In 2020, total power consumption across the nation was 7,511TWh, an increase of 3.1% YoY. By the end of 2020, China’s newly installed power generation capacity was 191GW, where wind and solar accounted for 71.1GW and 48.2GW respectively. It is estimated that in 2021, the country’s total power consumption will increase 6-7%. In that time, total national power generation installed capacity should reach 2,370GW showing a 7.7% increase, and the installed capacity of non-fossil energy power is projected to achieve 1,120GW at a rate of about 47.3% of the total power generation installed capacity.
